Built into a sun-warmed hillside in southern Crete, the main house was the one we designed for ourselves — and it shows. Open-plan living with floor-to-ceiling windows, mountain views to the north, and sunsets over the Mediterranean to the west. It's the kind of place where you sit down with your coffee and an hour disappears.

The house is open-plan: kitchen, dining, and living room flow together with views in every direction. It's a proper family space — room to cook, eat, spread out, and still be together. Relaxing in the living room, you can see the ancient Minoan palace of Phaistos across the Messara Valley.
The main bedroom has a queen-sized Cocomat bed with a selection of pillows (firm, soft, and in between). The second bedroom has two single beds that can be pushed together into a double — your call, just let us know how you'd like it set up.
Beyond the beds, there's flexibility: the living room couch is a Cocomat mattress that sleeps one adult comfortably, and we have a roll-out mattress and a children's bed — so families of five can make it work. Traveling with a baby? Crib, changing table, and high chair are available on request.
The kitchen is fully equipped — not a holiday kitchen where you're missing the one thing you need. The sink has a second tap for reverse-osmosis filtered drinking water, so skip the plastic bottles.
Coffee we take seriously: an automatic espresso machine, a moka pot, a cold brew bottle, a grinder, and beans from Stratos at Caffeine in Timbaki.
Two outdoor spaces: the protected patio next to the kitchen is where we eat most of our meals — sheltered from the wind. The terrace is for sitting with a drink and watching the sunset. For cooler evenings there's a fireplace in the living room with a decent wood pile outside, and floor heating throughout — warm floors on a chilly Cretan morning is a small luxury we're glad we built in. Laundry is covered too, with a washing machine in the main bedroom's walk-through closet.

"Wow! The pictures definitely don't do it justice. It is designed so beautifully, with open spaces, blending with the surroundings. We couldn't get enough of the view of the sea and the mountains from the living space — it felt like an amazing painting. We are a couple with a 4-month baby, and the main house was perfect for us."
